On April 9th, 2025, at the Città della Scienza in Naples, Quantum Nexus – A Journey into Quantum Science and Technology took place, one of the most significant events of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, celebrating 100 years since the birth of quantum physics.
In this context of scientific and industrial excellence, Oxhy had the honor of publicly unveiling for the first time the very first working prototypes of Oxhycell, its revolutionary Quantum Energy Harvesting technology capable of generating electric energy by capturing ambient infrared radiation — even in the dark
Beyond Quantum Computing
When we talk about quantum technologies today, we often think of quantum computing as the most tangible application. But the truth is that the Second Quantum Revolution spans far broader domains, and one of the most promising is precisely the energy sector.
With Oxhycell, Oxhy is bringing to the real world a quantum-based Energy Harvesting technology capable of generating electricity in a continuous, sustainable, and decentralized way, harnessing a physical principle — the oxhydroelectric effect — rooted in the quantum properties of liquid water.
This is a system that goes beyond photovoltaics, enabling the extraction of energy from ambient infrared radiation, even in the absence of visible light or active heat sources — a completely new paradigm.
During Quantum Nexus, visitors to the Oxhy exhibition space had the opportunity to observe the first prototype modules in action: devices capable of autonomously powering small electronic systems without batteries and with extremely low environmental impact.
